Strategic Sustainability Advisor
Dr. Steve Schein is a senior sustainability leadership consultant and Expert-in-Residence at the Presidio Graduate School in San Francisco. His 2015 book A New Psychology for Sustainability Leadership: The Hidden Power of Ecological Worldviews has been featured in US News & World Report, The Guardian, Bloomberg News, Psychology Today, GreenBiz, and numerous leadership journals.
His primary areas of consulting are sustainability leadership development and integration of sustainability initiatives with corporate strategy and culture. Steve is passionate about helping leaders and teams tap into their deeper motivations to cultivate sustainability driven organizations and strategic partnerships across boundaries. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) and former CEO with more than 30 years of leadership, business development, and senior management experience in several industries.
From 2005-2015, Steve was a member of the faculty at SOU, where he founded the sustainability leadership certificate program. Prior to this he was a director of consulting at Moss Adams and President of resort management companies in Colorado and Arizona. In 1998, he co-founded an NYSE company, ResortQuest International, where he served as a senior vice-president and corporate officer until 2004. Earlier in his career, Steve was an international auditor with Arthur Young and Nabisco Brands. He has speaks three foreign languages: Spanish, French, and Portuguese.
Steve earned his PhD in Human Development and Organizational Systems from Fielding Graduate University and his BA in accounting from the University of Colorado. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Net Impact and the GEOS Institute.
